When Indian Motorcycle launched the Challenger in 2020, it heralded the beginning of an arms race that is still being duked out on MotoAmerica’s King of the Baggers series. With Indian’s first honest attempt at a performance bagger, the company was primed to take on one of Harley-Davidson’s most popular bike categories.

While Harley-Davidson has upped its game in the bagger performance category, winning the last season of the series, the Indian PowerPlus engine nevertheless helped dial up the hype for American-made performance, regardless of America’s appetite for Cadillac-inspired long-haul comfort.

Now, Indian has grafted the Challenger’s PowerPlus engine into an aesthetically similar touring model, the Indian Pursuit.

“Touring bikes are one of the ultimate expressions of freedom — enabling unforgettable experiences through longer escapes and epic adventures on the open road,” said Mike Dougherty, President for Indian Motorcycle. “With Pursuit, we’ve expanded on the unparalleled sophistication of the PowerPlus motor to deliver a class-leading, fully-loaded touring machine that combines top-tier performance with unparalleled comfort and advanced tech features, delivering an American V-twin touring experience unlike any other.”

Packed with comfort and performance, the Indian Pursuit is available in two models with two trim levels. Models include the Pursuit Dark Horse and Pursuit Limited — each available with a premium package that offers advanced ride-enhancing technology and additional comfort features.

The PowerPlus engine, a 108 cubic-inch, liquid-cooled V-twin that delivers 122 horsepower and 128 ft-lbs. of torque, features a refined engine calibration to improve low-speed drivability and enhance rider experience, the company said.

The Pursuit comes with an adjustable windscreen and vented lower fairings to provide protection from the elements, and a heightened level of flexibility to adjust to varying weather and temperature conditions. There are also heated grips, a cargo trunk and large saddlebags.
